What an honor we have to live in a country which rings forth freedom and justice. We owe such a great debt to the men and women of our nations military.
On this fourth of July, I can’t help but think of those who have suffered grief in their country. Every day I see terror attacks in the news, suicide bombings, civil unrest-hatred and violence. Certainly our own nation is not free from those things. They have come to our shores as well as to the nations around us.
Pain is a universal feeling. It is felt by people of every race, nation, color and religion. Our world is fallen, but it was not meant to be this way.
Soon, the most Powerful Ruler of all will set things straight, and we will see true world peace. He is, after all the Prince of Peace.
Sometimes I think we have this fluffy soft image of Jesus Christ in our hearts and minds as believers. We see a sweet Jesus with lovely locks of curly hair and kind eyes holding children and healing the wounded.
Yes. He is the healer. Yes. He is kind, gracious and compassionate. AND YET-
He is the returning King who John Saw in Revelation chapter 1:12
12 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man,[a] dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.” NIV
John was terrified when he saw this Jesus. He had seen Jesus before when He walked on the Earth, and yet, He had never seen Him like this.
This is OUR Jesus. Not just kind and soft but Powerful and Terrifying in His might and justice. He will return and set all things straight, as they aught to be. No more terror attacks, no more suicide bombings. His Kingdom, His Authority.
And it will be good.
Until then, spread the word about His coming- pray for those in pain and suffering around the world. Share. Give. Love. Be Powerful for the Kingdom of God.
Happy fourth of July!
